Take the road less travelled

Genesis 13:13 “But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.”

Leader, I bless you with being set apart in the place where God determined you to be. Joseph of old was placed in a high position in an idolatrous nation, so was Daniël. Lot was surrounded by wicked men. I bless you with standing your ground among those who – either with malicious intent or because of their own hurts – choose to be less than what God intended them to be. I bless you with not reacting to them out of anger or contempt. Rather, I bless you with God’s heart for them, who does not want anyone to perish. I bless you with extraordinary resolve to love the unlovable the way God prescribes – a much higher standard than what we would choose ourselves. I bless you with patience to wait for God’s intervention. He might bless the place where you are because of you (as in the case of Joseph and Daniël) or He might react with righteous judgment (as in the case of Sodom). I bless you with being in-step with whatever His council is and with an awareness of His sovereign protection.

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”
