Proverbs 14:30 A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones.
Leader, another verse in Proverbs counsels that we are to guard our hearts because from it flows the issues of life. Even popular wisdom draws parallels between what exists in our hearts – what we think and believe in our innermost being, not just with our heads – and the impact on our behaviour as well as our bodies. I bless you with guarding your heart against the harmful bacteria of envy. I bless you with staying clear of comparisons – comparing who you are and what you have with others, so that discontent or resentment cannot chip away at your peace of mind and general health. I bless you with joy in your heart, cultivated by thankfulness (Deuteronomy 28:47). I bless you with a strong and healthy spirit, unblemished by sorrow. I bless you with being wise in how you broaden your intellectual and emotional horizons, so that you do not waste time with and submit to unhelpful silliness.
Proverbs 15:13,14 A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.
